As mobile operators prepare for 5G commercial deployment, the amount of space at the top of mobile cellular macro basestation towers is increasingly constrained. In developed markets, mobile operators report 30% of macro cell sites only have access to a single antenna mount while 40% of cell sites only have access to two antenna mounts. As mobile operators acquire additional spectrum, existing antennas need to adopt additional antenna technologies and features such as higher order multiband antenna configurations, advanced MIMO capabilities as well as more compact antenna form factors.
ABI Research’s Mobile Cellular Antennas and 5G Readiness report profiles the most dominant and innovative mobile cellular antenna manufacturers. This report also provides a 2017 versus 2016 market share analysis and a Vendor Matrix analysis that quantifies the Innovation and Implementation capabilities of the mobile cellular antenna vendors.
