Hot Tech Innovators: Industrial, Collaborative, and Commercial Robotics

Robots are evolving at an accelerating rate to address the challenges and opportunities faced by aging workforces and labor shortages. The next 3 to 4 years will witness the mainstreaming of autonomous mobile robots outside of their current strongholds of warehousing and manufacturing, whilst advances in collaborative robotics, industrial robots and accessories like location technologies will further strengthen the deployment of robotics in the industrial space. In this presentation, ABI Research identifies 15 companies that are pushing the robotics industries forward, and deduces a number of trends from their advances. These trends include:

a. Proliferation of platform-agnostic autonomy solution provers (PerceptIn, Sevensense, Nuro) who can make any vehicle autonomous.

b. Application of mobile robotics outside of traditional markets, an example being Oneberry’s use of these robots for security.

c. Development of advanced location technologies and connectivity to further improve the accuracy, mobility and coverage of robotics (GNSS, UWB, 4G LTE and 5G).

d. Leveraging of Cloud platforms (such as AWS Robomaker) to scale up the deployment of robotics and to enable value-added services

e. Industrial robotics players diversifying their portfolios to enable robotic solutions across all verticals, an example being Comau’s development of exoskeletons and an advanced IoT solution

f. Hardware advances to make mobile and collaborative robotics superior, and to enable cohabitation with humans; as evidenced by ANYbotics and Precise Automation

This short presentation will narrow in on a handful of companies considered to be providing, pursuing, and developing exciting robotic solutions to a variety of business cases and across a range of sectors.
