Public Safety DAS in the FirstNet Era

As wireless communications evolve from legacy narrow band land mobile radio (LMR) systems to broadband LTE FirstNet systems many new features can be implemented over and above traditional voice push to talk (PTT) communications. The increasingly demanding nature of public safety missions means that information must be shared more effectively through pictures, diagrams, maps, and database searches and this means that LTE is the most appropriate solution for public safety communication networks of the future.

This report examines the features being implemented in by AT&T for FirstNet, discusses the particular requirements for in-building FirstNet wireless coverage and makes strategic recommendations for building owners/managers, equipment vendors, system integrators, and neutral hosts.
