Kaspersky Lab ranks first in ABI Research’s Internet Security Software Products vendor Competitive Assessment, with McAfee and Avira finishing second and third, respectively.

Avira finished first in Innovation due to a rich feature set for its product suites, consistent high scoring on performance with independent testers, and a strategic business model development. Avast! ranked second in Innovation, offering the most competitively priced product on the market, with an innovative feature set and advanced product performance. BitDefender placed third in Innovation due to the high-level quality of its solutions, with one of the top performing product suites in the market.

McAfee ranked first in Implementation, due to a solid product offering and significant market share. McAfee has an impressive list of strategic partnerships, dedicated implementation for the consumer and business segments, and its reputed Global Threat Intelligence technology. Kaspersky Lab and Symantec scored equally to finish in second. Kaspersky Labs has a definitive global presence, a powerful antivirus engine, and a wide-ranging product portfolio. Symantec also retains a very high market share, offering broad product coverage, pervasive market support, and one of the most extensive research communities.

"The Internet Security Software is becoming much more relevant as simple anti-virus products fall short of tackling APTs and sophisticated cyber-attacks. Leading vendors now offer anti-phishing, anti-theft, privacy and identity protection, secure online transactions, mobile support, sandboxing, and cloud services among other rich features to offer top-tier security products," comments senior analyst, Michela Menting.

The Internet Security Software market is the emerging defacto standard for end-point security solutions today. Internet connectivity is moving beyond PCs and laptops, to include all manner of mobile and consumer devices: smartphones, tablets, consoles, televisions, and so forth. Security solutions need to address more than antivirus and antispam to cover anti-theft capabilities, privacy protections, and remote management. The Internet Security market for the business segment has to tackle security in a holistic and multi-tiered manner end-to-end if it wants to stay relevant in a highly dynamic technological environment.
