Ingenico was the highest ranking POS terminal vendor within ABI Research’s POS Terminal Vendor Competitive Assessment. Ingenico continues to position itself at the forefront of POS innovation through the continued enablement of contactless, and maybe more importantly, through other added value managed and integrated services. Ingenico has addressed its product and service expansion through both in-house development and its strategic acquisitions of ROAM, Ogone, and EasyCash. VeriFone finished close behind in second place with PAX Technology ranking in third.
Accompanying the POS terminal vendor matrix are full year 2013 market share rankings for nine of the leading POS terminal vendors, based on shipments.
Both Ingenico and VeriFone continue to dominate the POS terminal market share rankings with a combined share of 78% leaving the rest to battle it out for the remainder. With both Ingenico and VeriFone further strengthening their positions, it begs the question as to how, if at all, the other leading vendors can continue to compete and close the competitive gap.
