Operational Technology Ethernet in Defense and Military
Report | 2Q 2026 | AN-6596
Get The ReportABI Research estimates the Total Addressable Market (TAM) for OT Ethernet at US$7.4 billion in 2026, growing to US$9.7 billion by 2030.
The missile category is expected to remain dominant in 2026 and 2027 as the defense industry continues to replenish munitions that are being expended in the two ongoing theaters of war. After this phase, the rapid digitization of the defense market is expected to concentrate on C2 centers, which will become the central nervous systems of entire fleets. Other categories include weapons control interfaces, which are typically used to modernize existing armaments, vehicles, or other categories, and finally, military aircraft. The difference across these categories is that missiles, weapons control interfaces, and military aircraft will require ruggedized, shielded Ethernet modules with a high ASP, whereas the requirements for Ethernet in C2 centers will be lower.
It should be noted that ABI Research carried out a thorough market sizing exercise, of which only the four largest categories are illustrated in the chart above. There are other categories that illustrate low volume, high number of ports, and moderate ASP (e.g., aircraft carriers), while other categories illustrate moderate volume, low number of ports, and high ASPs (e.g., UGVs).
