Smart Warehousing: System Integrators (SI) for Material Handling Automation
Market Data | 2Q 2025 | MD-SWSI-101
Get The ReportPure-play System Integrators (SIs) have thrived in the North American market due to earlier adoption of advanced offerings and the need to blend such systems with legacy infrastructure. Typically, pure-play SIs have seen a significant portion of their business be driven by e-commerce giants and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers that prefer the agility and ability to integrate diverse systems quickly. ABI Research expects pure-play SI revenue to surpass Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)-led SIs around 2030, increasing at a CAGR of 23.6% to US$38.4 billion in 2032.
OEM system-led SIs are a go-to for greenfield projects where end-to-end control is desired and have typically held strength in food & beverage and automotive where standardized, high-throughput systems are necessary. OEM SIs are facing margin pressure and losing out to more flexible SIs, particularly as the number of greenfield projects decreases. This type of SI is expected to experience the lowest CAGR in annual revenue of 6.4% to 2032.
Combining OEM offerings with partner solutions will remain the dominant model in the industry as the ideal approach for complex, multi-site deployments. Revenue in 2032 will be nearly double that of pure-play SIs at US$78.2 billion, growing at a CAGR of 18.9%
