Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) is moving beyond technical validation in The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 20, which broadens standardization to include architecture, security, charging, and network management. But instead of developing a whole new sensing market, ISAC is being standardized as a managed network capability, meaning that early deployments are limited to operator-managed systems where sensing will have a direct impact on operations.
