World’s First SGP.32 IoT Module, From Murata, Giesecke+Devrient, and Sony Altair, Heralds New Era of Device Flexibility and Longevity

16 Jan 2025 | IN-7678

Manufacturer Murata, with its software supplier Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), and hardware supplier Sony Altair have claimed the launch of the world’s first SGP.32-compliant Internet of Things (IoT) module. Suitable Embedded Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM) abilities for the IoT have been a long time coming. And it makes sense for SGP.32 support to ultimately become a standard feature for Cat-M and Cat-1bis; with Low-Power Wide Area (LPWA), Integrated SIM (iSIM), and eSIM being highly mutually complementary.
