UHF RFID: Retail Software & Services
Market Data | 3Q 2025 | MD-RFIDS-101
Get The ReportThe Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) retail software market is expanding rapidly. Suppliers note more demand for their software solutions in the past 6 to 12 months than in the last 10 years combined. This is driven, to a great extent, by the apparel market, where several transitions are happening, including: from build to buy; from “visionary” retailers to mass adoption; and from “simple” inventory use cases to exposing RFID data to the broader enterprise software environment. Outside of the apparel market, there is growing interest, pilots, and scaling deployments from other industries, including general merchandise/hardlines and Food & Beverage (F&B) retailing.
Key Market Takeaways:
According to ABI Research, the retail RFID software & services market size is projected to more than triple between 2025 and 2030, from US$294 million to US$1.1 billion. This translates to a CAGR of 28%.
Apparel dominates revenue today for RFID deployments in retail because of the number of store deployments. Going forward, projects in both supply chain and in stores in other categories will drive a significant increase in software and—especially—professional services.
The main driver of store deployments of RFID today is, by far and away, the apparel and footwear market, along with good adoption in the sporting goods sector.
However, there are clear signals that other verticals are assessing RFID technology. The food industry will see some large store projects in the 2025 to 2027 period, and other verticals such as HBA & pharmacy and DIY are showing promising interest both for supply chain deployments and in stores.
