Get The ReportAccording to ABI Research, 5.7 million new vehicles will ship with Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) capabilities. The growing dominance of the C-V2X protocol is evident, accounting for 57% of OBU shipments in 2022 before rapidly increasing to 82% of shipments in 2025, a reflection of China (a C-V2X market) rapidly surpassing Europe (effectively a DSRC market, to date) as the leader in V2X-equipped vehicle shipments.
Also of note is the comparatively small size of the broadcast V2X market compared to the overall cellular connectivity opportunity in automotive throughout this forecast horizon. Even beyond this forecast horizon, in which the Chinese market for broadcast V2X is expected to saturate, network-based connectivity and, therefore, network-based cooperative mobility applications, are expected to be more impactful in connectivity-based automotive safety applications
