ABI Research forecasts total Direct Current (DC) charging stock for Electric Vehicles (EVs) to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.3% between 2026 and 2036. Total stock will increase from 3.2 million units to 8.7 million units over that period. The EV charging infrastructure market is clearly gravitating toward faster charge points, as Ultra-Fast DC (>350 kW) chargers are currently the least common type but will overtake Slow DC (<51 kW) chargers by 2035. Ultra-Fast DC chargers are projected to grow at the fastest rate, with a CAGR of 32%. Fast DC (51 to 349 kW) chargers will remain the predominant charger type in operation throughout the forecast period.
