ABI Research's Government and Healthcare ID Cards market data forecasts contactless smart credential shipments to reach 443 million in 2025, with that number increasing to 529 million by 2029. National IDs make up the largest share of shipments, followed closely by passports. Combined, these two use cases will comprise 86% of total shipments by the forecast's end. Driver's licenses are the third largest market for contactless smart credentials, achieving 63.5 million shipments in 2029.
