The steady growth is attributed to mMIMO being the baseline antenna configuration in any 5G deployment in the main spectrum bands. With Open Radio Access Network (RAN) technology maturing in the coming years, ABI Research expects there to be accelerated growth as operators decide to switch from mono-vendor, traditional RAN to multi-vendor Open RAN solutions for their networks. While traditional RAN will dominate the market, the rate of growth for radio shipments will reduce relative to Open RAN.
