NEWSNew Beginnings |
IFS gathered more than 3,000 customers and 120 media and analysts in Orlando, Florida from October 12 to 16 to celebrate its meteoric rise in industrial Artificial Intelligence (AI) and launch several new products accretive to its ~$17 billion valuation (roughly 5X what it was when taken private a decade ago). Chief among these is IFS Intelligence, a layer that unifies data from assets and operations to enable action-oriented, agentic workflows. The event also showcased a smattering of influential partnerships such as Aveva (Schneider Electric) for Continuous Asset Decision Intelligence (CADI) and Siemens for the design, engineering, and production aspects of the comprehensive digital twin.
IMPACTWhat's in a Name? |
IFS Intelligence is the company’s best shot at doubling down on AI across manufacturing, defense, energy, finance, and supply chain operations by bringing together the wide range of portfolio capabilities it has built and acquired.
For built capabilities, IFS’ product focus is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Field Service Management (FSM), and Supply Chain Management (SCM). In 2021, the company launched IFS Cloud to bring these elements together and, in 2025, it launched Nexus Black, an industrial AI program allied with Anthropic to develop customized AI solutions with customers, as well as IFS Loops, an Agentic AI digital worker platform enabled by the acquisition of TheLoops in June 2025.
Looking at the bigger picture of acquisitions over the last few years, IFS acquired Ultimo (EAM) in 2022, Poka (connected-worker capabilities) in 2023, EmpowerMX (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) and Copperleaf (asset investment planning) in 2024, and 7bridges (AI-powered supply chain optimization) in 2025 after acquiring TheLoops the same year. IFS also announced major partnerships with AVEVA and Siemens in May and June of 2026.
RECOMMENDATIONSBeyond Its Heritage |
IFS Intelligence is the AI-enabled insights layer that abstracts action from the otherwise disjointed software offerings IFS built and acquired. Customers gain access to IFS Intelligence via an enterprise-wide license that is not feature-gated, meaning all capabilities are available to all users, and cost is determined by usage.
The name and capabilities are akin to Siemens’ Intelligence Center X (see ABI Insight “Siemens and HighByte Partnership Bolsters Intelligence Center X Proposition for Agentic AI”), except IFS is more focused on asset intelligence, field service, and capital planning, whereas Siemens focuses on design, engineering, and manufacturing production. But the distinction between where IFS and Siemens are focused is what makes a partnership between them—like IFS + AVEVA—so interesting: Siemens fills important gaps in the product/process/asset lifecycles for IFS, and IFS fills important gaps for Siemens in EAM, FSM, ERP, and capital planning.
Overall, IFS’ strategy is to complement rather than replace the investments customers have already made in digital/physical infrastructure, which makes it a good fit alongside companies like SAP versus a replacement. Such an approach alleviates the pain of ripping and replacing existing systems for large enterprise customers and makes IFS a potential acquisition target for suitors with portfolios that have gaps it can fill.
