Chinese 5G Subscriptions and Data Traffic will Reach Near 40% and 60% Global Shares by 2025

Despite it still being in its early stage, 5G deployment in China is aggressive, allowing the country to be prepared to maintain/advance its position as the world's leading industrial manufacturing nation and be ready for the next generation of the industrial revolution. ABI Research forecasts the 5G subscriptions in the Chinese market are expected to reach 739 million by 2025, which nearly takes up 40% world market share. In terms of the annual mobile data consumption, the 5G annual data traffic in China will reach 782 Exabytes by 2025, which has nearly 60% share of the world's total 5G data consumption.

"Unlike other early adopters, such as South Korea, the United States, Finland, Japan, and many others, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in China are owned by the government, which allow them to receive extensive support for developing the 5G networks especially in the consumer market," says Jiancao Hou, 5G & Mobile Network Infrastructure Senior Analyst. "From a spectrum perspective, the MNOs received 5G spectrum licenses for tests and trials in 2018, giving them the great opportunity to plan the best network deployment strategies and be ready for the 5G commercial launch in the following year." Moreover, “The current trade war and the ban of the Chinese domestic vendors isn’t slowing down 5G deployment in China, at least over the next 2 to 3 years, given its level of 5G deployment momentum.”

5G Network Security: A US$9 Billion Dollar Enterprise Market Opportunity by 2025

The cloud-native nature of 5G networks will have a disruptive and positive impact on the cybersecurity industry in the next few years. According to ABI Research, 5G network security presents a US$9 billion enterprise market opportunity by 2025. The ushering-in of cloud-native infrastructures and network-function virtualization, API-driven platforms, and isolation capabilities through containers and network slices provides significant opportunities for IT cybersecurity offerings to find applications in 5G. Both security software and services will be in demand from enterprises looking to leverage trusted mMTC and URLLC applications.

Initial spending on security will be by CSPs as they focus on securing their own mobile infrastructure and network. As CSPs advance, there is an opportunity for them to recoup that investment and monetize it through enterprise security offerings. This will most likely be in partnership with network equipment providers (NEPs) and pure-play cybersecurity vendors. There is a substantial play for hyperscalers here as well,” Michela Menting, Digital Security Research Director explains.

How the Pharma Supply Chain is Managing the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout

Source Today

Similar to what’s happened in many other industries, the ongoing globalization of the pharma supply chain has introduced new complexities during the vaccine rollout. Much like automakers work with suppliers from around the globe and wholesale distributors sell to international client bases, the “flattening out” of the world presents new challenges for all companies participating in the supply chain.

“Over the past two decades, pharma supply chains have steadily become more globalized,” Susan Beardslee of ABI Research told S&DCE. “Various steps of the drug manufacturing and distribution process occur in different parts of the world, for example, a medicinal crop might be farmed and harvested in Australia, processed in India, combined with other ingredients to form a final drug at a plant in Germany, and distributed to hospitals or pharmacies in the United States.”

Smart Home Industry Leaving Billions in Data Revenues Untapped

Technology for You

Despite a decade of annual double-digit growth, the smart home market will remain stymied without significant development of its richest resource – smart home intelligence. A new report from global tech market advisory firm ABI Research finds the industry in the earliest stages of leveraging smart home data into more powerful and more valuable consumer products and services.

A swathe of industries, currently beyond smart home engagement, can build valuable applications and services based on the intelligence smart home data can provide. “At present, there are only costly and limited ways to gain access to even a fraction of that data. But an emerging understanding that the billions of dollars in potential value being lost must be addressed,” says Jonathan Collins, Research Director at ABI Research.
