Pay TV and broadband services continue to drive service provider fortunes for fixed network operators. Focus has shifted from Pay TV services to broadband services as Pay TV services in North America and Western Europe reach saturation, especially in the presence of strong OTT offerings. In addition, high content licensing costs have driven broadband to offer higher margins for operators. Meanwhile, some regions – including Latin America and parts of Asia-Pacific, have become mobile-first societies where fixed line penetration lags mobile broadband penetration.
