Industrial Collaborative Robots Competitive Assessment

Collaborative Robot Arm revenues will produce US$ 10.276 billion in annual revenue by 2030, up from US$ 446 million in 2018.

The Collaborative Robotics competitive assessment covers 12 major vendors of the technology – ABB, Aubo Robotics, Automata, Doosan Robotics FANUC, Franka Emika, KUKA AG, Precise Automation, Productive Robotics, Techman Robot, Universal Robots and Yaskawa Motoman– using ABI Research’s proven, unbiased innovation/implementation criteria framework.

The following criteria was used to rank the vendors:

Innovation

Payload / Weight / Reach/ Axes (25%):

Software and Artificial Intelligence (25%):

Ergonomics and Human-Machine Interaction (25%):

Experimentation and Hardware (15%):

Safety & Flexibility (10%):

Implementation

Units and Revenue (25%):

Cost and ROI (25%):

Partnerships (25%):

Value-Added Services (15%):

Number of Employees (10%):

Each vendor was then ranked as a Leader, Follower, or Laggard.

There are a very large number of cobot providers, and an even larger ecosystem of system integrators, distributors and third-party technology vendors that work with and alongside collaborative robots. This competitive assessment cannot give due attention to all cobot arm providers because there are well over 50 major developers, many of which have sold a minimal number of platforms. The 12 companies represented here include the four major industrial robot companies (ABB, KUKA, FANUC and Yaskawa) as well as the major and innovative collaborative arm developers.

This competitive assessment also omits end-of-arm tooling providers that develop grippers, vacuums or sensors for collaborative robots.
