ABI Research conducted an industry survey on transformative technology adoption and attitudes of 455 decision makers, influencers, and implementers in the following verticals: Retail, Healthcare, Logistics, Automotive, Manufacturing, Utilities, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), as well as Local, State, and Federal Governments. This issue provides a summary of the findings and main conclusions for the retail segment related to the adoption of smart in-store retail technologies such as beacons, POS, indoor location, AI-based analytics, the impact of multi-channel and e-commerce strategies on brick and mortal retail, and awareness about the beacon supplier ecosystem. Questions range from willingness to adopt new technologies, to barriers, benefits, and sourcing (in-house versus third-party). This report provides insight into prevailing attitudes with the retail segment, mainly on the awareness about the disruptive impact of smart retail technologies on business models, competitiveness, and customer experiences.
