Commercial vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) are increasingly adding factory installed telematics units as well as digital services. (telematics, Freight as a Service…) that benefit compliance,  route optimization and capacity utilization.  They can offset vehicle revenues with recurring revenue streams as well as greater machine and operator data and analytics.

This is taking place concurrently with fleet services consolidation, increasing regulation, alternative drives,  rapid growth in e-commerce (and resulting OTD implications), ADAS integration, and upcoming technologies such as platooning, autonomy and biometrics.
