While e-commerce continues its steep growth curve, brick and mortar retail is undergoing a digital transformation, with physical stores being digitized through a range of technologies including beacons, RFID, advanced barcode scanning, machine vision, voice, AI, AR, and VR. This will allow stores to emulate the online customer experience in terms of seamlessly available information, choice, real-time support, and automated payment and check-out experiences while optimizing inventory and employee management process allowing significant operational cost savings. It also allows obtaining deep insights into shopping behavior and preferences, reducing lost sales, and improving the overall competitive position against e-commerce.
This aggregated dataset includes detail revenue forecasts of B&M and online sales revenues per region, next to forecasts for key in-store technologies including Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs), Bluetooth beacon deployment and revenues per retail category, Point of Sale (POS) terminal shipments and installed based per region and revenues per POS type, along with Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality smart glasses data for the retail sector. Additional categories will be added in future updates.
