This document outlines the C-RAN / vRAN ecosystem and profiles 42 organizations and vendors. This report is also a companion to ABI Research’s report NFV: Radio Virtualization in the RAN (AN-1858).
While this is not a comprehensive summary of all organizations in the ecosystem we believe this represents a cross-section of some of the major companies and organizations which are most advanced in the field today.
Section 4 of this report profiles five non-profit organizations and industry group that are active in C-RAN / NFV. We discuss the activities of ETSI, iJOIN, NGMN, MEC, and the Small Cell Forum.
Section 5 provides a cross section of the MNO community that either has commercial C-RAN / NFV operations or has network trials underway. We discuss the activities of 12 MNOs on three continents in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The MNOs discussed are China Mobile, Korea Telecom, SK Telecom, LG U+, NTT DOCOMO, Softbank, Orange, Telefónica, Elisa, Etisalat Mobily, and Ooredoo.
Section 6 outlines the activities of nine RAN equipment vendors. We discuss the activities of Airspan, Airvana, Alcatel-Lucent, Altiostar, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC Europe, Nokia Networks, and ZTE.
Section 7 discusses the DAS or in-building wireless equipment vendor ecosystem with profiles of the activities of Cobham Wireless, CommScope, Corning, Dali Wireless, JMA Wireless, Kathrein, SOLiD, TE Connectivity, Westell, Wireless Telecom Group, and Zinwave.
Finally section 8 discusses the semiconductor vendor ecosystem and includes profiles of ASOCS, Cavium, eASIC, Freescale, and Intel.
