Please refer to Outdoor Small Cell Forecast to ensure you are viewing the latest forecasts.
This database forecasts the outdoor small cell market. Outdoor small cells are categorized into less than 1 W, 1 W to 5 W, and 5 W to 10 W and into picocell, femtocell, and microcell. These solutions are typically deployed outdoors on lamp posts, telephone booths, or even rooftops. Outdoor solutions are mostly needed to provide mobile broadband capacity that complements a macrocell. Outdoor small cells are also used as the primary coverage and capacity solution in rural areas that are hard to reach with macrocells.
Outdoor small cells typically have weatherproof-hardened enclosures and additional bit security and backhaul options not found on indoor femtocells or picocells. There are a variety of backhaul options being considered for outdoor small cells including fiber, copper, NLOS sub 6 GHz, LOS 6-38 GHz, E-band, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, and in-band LTE. The database forecasts outdoor small cells by region, technology, and output power.
