Building Management Systems (BMS) have long provided centralized but unconnected management for building environments. Increasingly they are connected to the cloud supporting a new level of service provision from a host of emerging players. The BMS is also extending further into the environments under control with a host of new sensors and actuators deployable within a building to deliver greater levels of detail and control. Occupancy, air quality, humidity, lighting, and many more sensors can all provide a new levels of environmental control. These new functions are extending existing and new BMS to integrate additional applications such as lighting and security.
This report assesses a range of approaches and vendors tackling BMS integration into the Internet of Things and the markets potential growth and development over the next 5 years.
