ASUS Asks U.S. Audiences to Get Both a Smartphone and a Tablet Out of a Single Box

ASUS announced the PadFone X Mini for the U.S. market. The PadFone X Mini is unique in that it combines the mobility of a smartphone with the larger display of a tablet without needing to carry two devices. The handset slides into the back of the tablet sled, reusing all of the capabilities of the smartphone on the larger, higher-resolution display.

Powered by both an Intel Atom processor and LTE modem, the PadFone X Mini will launch on the AT&T network. The battery inside the tablet housing doubles as a phone charger, extending the life of the device to 28 hours between phone charges. At launch, the device will have a no-contract price of US$199 for the base model, which includes both the phone and tablet dock.
