First came Ericsson, in February 2013, endorsing 60 GHz for small cell backhaul and announcing a portfolio of MINI-LINK 60 GHz products designed for small cell backhaul, and at the same time claiming that sub-6 GHz backhaul, with its limited spectrum, will be unsuitable for small cell backhaul networks.
Then just recently in August 2014, DragonWave announced that it had completed extensive testing of 60 GHz outdoor small cell backhaul links, and that they had decided that 60 GHz for urban small cell backhaul is a competitive choice. DragonWave currently offers 60 GHz in its Avenue Link and Horizon Compact+ portfolios.
