We are witnessing competing technologies vying for share in small cell wireless backhaul. Sub-6 GHz technologies with their very attractive NLOS (Non-line-of-sight) capability may be hampered by lack of bandwidth, while V-band (60 Ghz) and E-band (70 GHz to 80 GHz) technologies with abundant bandwidth are LOS (Line of Site) and more difficult to deploy. Some encouraging signposts are emerging from leading firms that point to millimeter wave small cell backhaul advancing in popularity.
