Pioneer Has Sold Its DJ Equipment Business


On September 17, 2014, Pioneer announced that it has agreed to sell its DJ equipment business to global investment firm KKR for US$551 million. According to the announcement, the rationale behind this decision is so that Pioneer can fulfill its vision of becoming a “comprehensive infotainment” company and become a leader in the “connected car” industry. This deal is expected to be finalized by March 2015.

In last year’s competitive assessment for connected automotive infotainment, Pioneer came in seventh in the vendor matrix and third in terms of market share of connected infotainment systems sold to OEM customers.
