In its September 1, 2014 blog post Let’s grow, partners!, Nokia Networks comments on plans for its new Partner Business Unit, heralding an era of collaboration. With a bit of humility and frankness that is rare in the telecom industry, Nokia admits to hearing a “wake-up call” and finds partnering is the way forward. The company was way out in front of the industry with its Liquid Network portfolio and the adoption of commercial IT kit (from HP) but seemed curiously inattentitve when it came to opening its networks with a fully supported telecom API solution. Though somewhat behind its competitiors in this aspect, it is now awake and taking its first steps to open its internal API program for “Plug In” partnering.
