Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) Released


The U.S. DOT’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently released an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM NHTSA-2014-0022) on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications technology. It marks the start of the implementation of the previously announced intention to move to a V2V mandate on new light vehicles. The purpose of the ANPRM is to collect public and stakeholder feedback during a 60-day period (comments must be received no later than October 20, 2014) before proceeding to the next regulatory phase of delivering a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking by 2016.
