Loon and Outernet


In July 2014, APM’s Marketplace covered Outernet, a project that will publish human knowledge via satellite to reach censored corners of the earth. What’s not to love? Use of standard DVB-S satellite broadcast capacity, a small satellite dish with a hard drive, Wi-Fi Access Point, and web server. The community selects content to broadcast—starting with the contents of Wikipedia—and delivers that to devices.
