Samsung to Partner with Under Armour to Boost Wearables Capacity
Samsung has announced it is to team up with U.S.-based sports clothing and equipment manufacturer, Under Armour, in a move that echoes Apple and its collaboration with Nike. While Samsung has been the first of the two companies to make significant ground in the wearable smart devices market through its Galaxy Gear smart watch range, the partnership with Under Armour has been cited as a move to further expand the group's presence with the possible introduction of another fitness-based product, to counteract the impact of the Apple and Nike deal.
Evidently, both vendors have identified the scope for potential strategic opportunities within the wearable devices sector, especially as the growth of the smartphone industry has begun to slow.
