Emerging Vendors Are Entering the Market


The tablet market has developed rapidly since the inception of the first slate-style tablet PC. Apple, Samsung, and other well-known vendors were quick to join the market and dominate the scene. Vendors incorporate the use of different implementation strategies and expand using different business models. Recently, there has been an increase in emerging and white-box vendors either entering the market with “stock-grade” tablets or specialized tablets targeting a specific audience. As shown in the chart below, ABI Research forecasts that the market share for “other” or emerging branded vendors, which does not include white-box, accounts for approximately 6% of the overall tablet market. Although this segment accounts for numerous vendors, it still emphasizes the increase in OEMs entering the market.
