The Remote Patient Management Revolution: Wearable Devices and Open Management Platforms

The remote patient market is long in gestation. A range of vertically integrated devices and data platforms have tried to make headway in driving RPM adoption in the healthcare sector, but have so far failed to see much adoption beyond pilots and trials. However, a wave of innovation has seen new players enter the RPM platform market. Some of these players, such as Qualcomm, have been looking at the healthcare platform market for a few years, others including Apple, Samsung are building platforms that, while initially focused on the consumer market, have potential to attract end-users and healthcare providers alike and help drive RPM adoption over the next 5 years.
