Thaicom to Provide In-flight Wi-Fi Connectivity to Nok Air


At CommunicAsia, a major communications event held in Singapore in June 2014, Asia-Pacific’s leading satellite operator Thaicom announced its launch of in-flight Wi-Fi service to Nok Air. Thaicom will provide in-flight connectivity services using Ku-band to Nok Air.

Nok Air is Thailand’s low-cost airline, which mainly flies to domestic destinations and other destinations in Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Thailand’s telecom regulator, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), approved in early June 2014 to allow Nok Air’s in-flight Wi-Fi operations. The partnership of Thaicom and Nok Air will become the first in-flight Wi-Fi service offered by a budget airline in the Asia-Pacific region.
