Inseparable Relationship between the IoT and Sensors


By now it has become widely acknowledged that the rise of the Internet of Things, and thereby the Internet of Everything revolution that it is unleashing, is inseparably linked to the rise of the increasingly ubiquitous sensor ecosystem. Sensors are the key to exposing data from sources that would otherwise be data-opaque. However, one major aspect that needs to be understood is that not all sensors are “traditional,” electronic sensors, since there are several types of sensing environments for which they are in fact a poor fit, due to, e.g., their low resistance to extreme temperatures and electricity conductivity.
