Sony to Launch PlayStation TV in North America and Europe in Fall 2014


E3 2014 reinforced the importance of games to the future of the console market. All three of the primary console manufacturers devoted press conferences to upcoming game titles and updates about key franchises. Sony, however, branched out further with its Project Morpheus VR headgear and, more pertinent to the near future, PlayStation TV. Priced at US$99 or US$139 with a DUALSHOCK 3 controller, the micro-console is essentially a fixed version of the Sony Vita handheld. It will have access to most Vita games and similarly be capable of playing past legacy titles via download. The platform will also conform to typical smart STB conventions and bring streaming video/music to the TV experience, but its most unique feature will likely come from the inclusion of PlayStation Now (cloud gaming).
