Samsung Places First in Tablet Competitive Assessment


For the second year in a row, Samsung, the South Korean technology giant, has successfully placed first in ABI Research’s competitive tablet assessment. Samsung’s extensive portfolio of tablets placed it first in innovation above all other PC OEMs including Apple. The company ranked second in implementation, falling short behind Apple, but still managed to grab the overall leading spot in the assessment. Over the past year, Samsung has also managed to steal a portion of Apple’s tablet market share. For the year 2013, the company shipped an estimated 38.2 million tablets and attained 23.4% of the overall tablet market, placing second behind Apple. Although Apple still managed to ship more tablets than Samsung, Apple’s market share dropped as Samsung’s innovation and diverse portfolio gained popularity among consumer audiences.
