Cable Operators Expand Business outside the United States


U.S. cable operators continue to invest heavily in Wi-Fi, showing signs of bringing competition to a higher level against mobile operators in the wireless market. The latest move is by Comcast, the largest cable operator in the United States by number of subscribers, targeting international roaming by partnering with two major Asian operators, Japan’s KDDI and Taiwan Mobile. Up until now, Wi-Fi international roaming was a strategic differentiator for mobile operators facing the growing presence of the MSOs in the internal Wi-Fi market.
