Not All Androids Are Clones


We recently had a chance to put the latest smartphones from HTC and Samsung through real-world, everyday use and found some similarities and differences between these two Android vendors. The HTC One (M8) and Samsung Galaxy S5 represent two of the latest smartphones available for business and consumer users. While Google Android OS powers both, each vendor has put its own special touches on the hardware design, along with the software that accompanies the devices.

Both devices were setup with the same Gmail and Outlook email accounts. Curiously, the Gmail app is buried in a Google folder, whereas Outlook gets its own email icon on the start screen. To compose a Gmail message, one has to open the Google folder and select the Gmail icon, followed by the compose icon. It pretty much goes against all the rules of usability.
