Finally, the Long-awaited “iOS in the Car”

Earlier in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show, Apple announced CarPlay. Formerly known as “iOS in the car,” the rebranding to CarPlay represents Apple’s strategic push into the in-car app space. The standard will allow iOS devices to work with in-built infotainment systems; specific features include voice-operated Siri system, GPS, navigation, music control, and telephone functionality. In addition, Apple has announced that a catalog of car manufacturers will include CarPlay starting from 2014; these include BMW, Acura, Audi, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Volvo, and others.
