Early Disappointments Provide Learnings


Media commentary around the disappointing sales and usage of certain high-profile wearables is increasing. For example, the U.K.’s The Guardian newspaper wrote an article on April 1, highlighting the number of Samsung Galaxy Gears on eBay and the high levels of users who no longer use the Gear.

The article sounds the alarm bell for wearable protagonists and goes on to make a contrasting comparison between wearables and smartphones: “For comparison, you wouldn't find people from the early days of the smartphone saying that they'd abandoned their BlackBerry, Treo, or Windows Mobile or Symbian phone. They were the early adopters, and they found utility in having email and (sometimes) web pages on the move.”
