Quirky Launches Wi-Fi-enabled Air Conditioner


Quirky, a crowdsourcing based consumer product design company in partnership with GE, recently announced the launch of Aros, a Wi-Fi enabled air conditioner. The US$300 window A/C is currently available for pre-orders in the United States through Amazon, and is expected to ship units from May 2014.

The Potential in the Retrofit Market


According to the 2009 Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS), 87% of United States households, or nearly 100 million households are equipped with air conditioning.
