The Netflix and Fitbit Hack


During a hackathon at Netflix, one entry emerged that for many immediately provided something new, valuable, and eye-catching. Using the wireless connectivity from the Fitbit device, an interface developed to deliver limited control of the Netflix player from the wearable device meant that, should the wearer become inactive for a period of time, the Netflix player could be paused or switched off. In addition, when the program replays at a later date, the user can decide to start from where the program was halted or from an earlier point where their inactivity was first recorded.
