Yahoo Japan to Buy eAccess Ltd. from SoftBank

On March 27, 2014, Yahoo Japan announced that it is going to buy mobile and broadband provider eAccess Ltd. from SoftBank at a price of JPY324 billion (US$3.2 billion), whereas eAccess had been purchased by SoftBank for JPY180 billion (US$1.8 billion) at the end of 2012 to increase its bandwidth for the rising data demand. To execute the acquisition, eAccess is expected to merge in June with WILLCOM, which is also a wireless service provider owned by SoftBank. Yahoo Japan said it will launch a new service called Y!mobile after it completes the acquisition.
