Licensing SoC Design for IoT


Rambus has signed a spate of licensing agreements in the past few months that indicates a growing trend for better security in connected home and mobile devices. In January 2014, Rambus granted licensing agreements to Samsung Electronics and Entropic. The Samsung deal is a 10-year licensing agreement estimated at about half a US$ billion and offers the Korean giant access to Rambus’s security technologies for devices such as smartphones, tablets, and set-top boxes. The Entropic deal is with Rambus’s Cryptography Research division for integration of the CryptoFirewall security cores into its silicon hardware to protect its line of multimedia set-top box SoC products.
