Thailand Operators Keen for 4G Services


On March 5, 2014, Thailand’s telecom regulator, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), approved the time frame for the 1800 MHz and 900 MHz spectrum auction despite the recent political turmoil. The two licenses covering 25 MHz of band 1800 MHz, which 2G operator Truemove (part of True Corporation) and Digital Phone Company (DPC) (part of Advanced Info Service (AIS)) hold, will be auctioned in August 2014. The auction for 900 MHz licenses, which AIS is using and will expire in March 2015, will take place in November 2014.
