Mobile devices are a hot property, and not only because consumers want to have access to information and content in the palm of their hand. Robbers are increasingly targeting device users and some say it is getting too violent. One influential U.S. state, California, is making the next move by drafting legislation and gaining both government and citizen support to curb the crimes. Lawmakers are looking to mandate that mobile devices made and sold in the state include a “kill switch” to render the device useless once reported missing or stolen.
