Omnitracs Europe Finds a Buyer

On January 9, 2014, privately owned Singapore-based Astrata Group announced that it had acquired Omnitracs Europe from Qualcomm via the subsidiary Astrata Group Private Limited. Omnitracs LLC, which includes all North American and Latin American subsidiaries, and recently a part of Qualcomm Enterprise Services, was sold to the private equity group Vista Equity in 2013; however, the sale excluded Omnitracs Europe.

Based in Waalre, Netherlands, Omnitracs Europe has been offering commercial vehicle telematics services to the trucking industry for more than 25 years and it is estimated to have approximately 30,000 to 35,000 active units in Europe. Specifications of the sale were not disclosed by either Astrata or Qualcomm.
