The Round Rock Dominoes Are Falling into Place


After 2 years of argument, discussion, and lawsuits, Motorola Solutions and Smartrac blinked first in November 2013 and signed a licensing agreement with Round Rock Research. In the following weeks, a number of high-profile companies have followed suit, including Alien Technology, Avery Dennison, Invengo, and Nordic ID. Previously, Checkpoint and Intelleflex had also been announced. Round Rock now claims to have nearly all EPC tag vendors and the vast majority of reader vendors active in the U.S. market signed up.
