Commercial Telematics for Construction Equipment

Although some construction fleet operators have been using telematics solutions for more than ten years, many other operators do not use telematics at all, and as a result, the penetration of telematics in the construction equipment industry as a whole is low. Operators cite the lack of solid business data coupled with a lack of education in the industry as the prime reasons for their apathy towards telematics. However, as more and more OEMs include telematics solutions as standard in their vehicles, operators are gradually beginning to realize the benefits.

This report looks at the key benefits of telematics for the construction equipment industry as well as the many challenges. In addition, key OEM and aftermarket telematics service providers are reviewed and forecasts are provided for the adoption of telematics up to 2019, split into OEM-fitted and aftermarket supplied systems.
